Take advantage of our professional editorial services
A professional book review
Before some authors take the publishing route, they want an honest,
expert opinion of their book. is it as good as they hoped? Have they
managed to weave together a story that is credible, believable and,
above all, readable?
To help you find out, we offer a book review service. Send your manuscript to us and it will be read by an experienced commissioning editor who has worked in major publishing houses. You will then receive an expert report telling you everything that's good about your work and, where necessary, those areas that need addressing. Covering major issues like plot, theme and characterisation, it will be an invaluable tool in telling you what the opinion will be from a traditional mainstream publishing house. The cost is £95 and the service can be purchased separately from our other publishing packages.

Meticulous copy editing
Proofreading will remove errors in spelling but copy editing is a different animal.
Sometimes referred to as line editing, this is where a manuscript is
checked for consistency, continuity and accuracy. Are names, places,
times, events and descriptions consistent? Does the style remain the
same throughout? Is word usage correct — are there mis-used words,
overused words or words which do not belong?
Copy editing can be an invaluable service, particularly if you want your book to really stand out when new readers discover it. At Bloodstone Books, our copy editors meticulously comb through manuscripts, literally word by word, line by line, and correct inaccuracies that you may be too close to your work to see.
If you would like to take advantage of the service, it can also be purchased separately at a cost of £0.006 per word. This would result in a total of £450 for a 75,000 word manuscript, for example. Complete manuscript preparation
Some authors want to be published but recognise that their work isn't quite up to
the mark. The story is there, but there are still issues to be resolved
in terms of plot, characterisation or theme.
In this instance, Bloodstone Books can offer a complete manuscript preparation service. Talk to us and an editor will be assigned to your work with a brief to help you turn it into a publishable manuscript. You can then choose to publish it through Bloodstone Books or approach traditional mainstream publishers far more confidently. The cost will depend on the amount of work required.
